The project answers to call number 2410, Area 1A: User Segment, User Community GNSS Introduction in the Maritime Sector, provided under cover letter GJU/04/2410-CL/NV. The project has been given the name MARUSE, which is used in order to draw attention to the utilisation of Galileo within the MARitime USEr community.
The objective of the MARUSE project is to bring together SME’s, maritime GNSS industry, other GNSS industry and key service providers and users within maritime and inland waterways with the aim to introduce EGNOS and Galileo in the maritime domain. |

Demonstration 4 in Livorno on September 27th 2007 |

On September 27th 2007 at the Livorno Port in Italy, Datamat, in cooperation with Kongsberg Seatex and Skysoft, will be demonstrating intermodal applications using available GNSS, AIS, EGNOS and software simulations to raise awareness of the potential of the future European satellite navigation system Galileo in the maritime sector. |

MARUSE demonstration in Serbia completed |

On June 21, 2007 the second demonstration of the MARUSE project took place at the Danube lock Djerdap I in Serbia. The aim of this event was to demonstrate high performance inland waterways applications using available GNSS, AIS, EGNOS and software simulations to raise awareness of the potential of the future European satellite navigation system Galileo in the Inland Waterway sector. An additional objective was to demonstrate how these new systems can help to increase safety and efficiency in Inland Waterway transportation though assistance in lock management with up-to-date traffic information. |
